A new boy group named "Panda Boys, 天府少年" became hot trend on the next day after the announcement of their official debut on August 20. However, their debut was controversial as their members were average eight-year-old boys. Many Chinese netizens shared their ideas and complained about their debut and accused the management company of using children as a tool to make money.
In response to the reactions from the internet users, management company Asia Star Entertainment (ASE) issued a statement explaining why the group was debuted: "Children are the future and we are the ship. We not only provide high quality training for each member in vocal music, dance, and other artistic aspects, but more importantly, we have the mission of letting children develop in an all round way. The company does not use children as a tool to make money, but is incubating a new generation of youth role models with contemporary significance. At the same time, the Panda Boys will continue to work hard to become a better self!"
